Welcome to An Gleann Cottage Produce!

We are a small food producer based at our home, An Gleann (The Glen), on the stunning Hebridean Island of Islay. Famous for its whisky, its wide, open landscapes and beautiful coastline, Islay and the neighbouring Island of Jura have inspired our range of gourmet butter, chocolate and malt whisky flavoured tablet, both in our use of ingredients and in our package and label design.

As advocates of ‘slow’ food, An Gleann tablet is handmade in small batches using the best quality and where possible, locally sourced ingredients. It contains no artificial colour, flavour or preservative and as such is a ‘fresh’ food which we make to order.

Our recipes are traditional Scottish ones which owe a debt to childhood memories. My thrifty older siblings made the most of their pocket money by clubbing together to buy the ingredients to make trays of tablet which would last the week. They came up with many inspired flavours, two of my favourites being walnut and ginger. Our house always smelt delicious and had many visitors on Saturday afternoons!
